Because Confidence Is Not Built From Theory Alone

I know how it feels when you have learned something, watched the videos, saved the steps, maybe even completed a course — but still feel unsure when a real client is in front of you.

You start thinking,

“What if I choose the wrong product?”

“What if her skin reacts?”

“What if I miss something?”

“Where do I actually begin?”

That worry is real — and it is exactly why I created Kaya Academy.

After 17+ years of working with different skin types, different clients, melanin-rich skin, sensitive skin, pigmentation-prone skin, acne-prone skin, ageing skin and real treatment challenges, I know one thing very clearly:

A good treatment is not about copying steps. It is about understanding the client in front of you.

At Kaya Academy, I teach in a simple, practical and caring way — so you can understand what you are doing, why you are doing it, when to adjust and when to stop.

What took me years to learn through real clients, real mistakes, real corrections and real salon experience is now taught to you with care, precision and honesty.

So you do not just leave with notes.

You leave with more confidence, better judgement and a clearer way to work with real clients.

How Kaya Academy Training Works

Theory Has Its Place. Practical Time Should Feel Practical.

If something can be learned properly at home, I would rather you learn it before your practical day. Your time inside the clinic should be used for the things that are harder to learn from a page or a video — positioning, technique, judgement, correction and understanding what is happening in front of you.

The goal is not to memorise more. It is to understand what you are doing when a real client is in front of you.

01

Start at the Right Level

We look at what you already know first. A complete beginner needs a different starting point from someone who already performs the service but wants better technique or judgement.

02

Learn the Theory Before Practical Training

Where home study is included, you work through the foundation first — hygiene, preparation, consultation, treatment knowledge and the information relevant to your chosen course.

03

Use Clinic Time for Hands-On Learning

Practical training is where we can see what you are actually doing — not what you think you are doing. This is where small corrections can make a very big difference.

04

Leave Knowing What to Practise Next

You should leave with a clearer technique, better understanding and a realistic practice plan. Confidence, speed and consistency continue to develop as you keep working with the skill.

What I Watch During Practical Training

Sometimes the Smallest Correction Changes Everything

Practical learning is not only about whether you completed the steps. I may be looking at the small details that affect the way the service actually feels and performs.

Your hand position
Your body position
Pressure and control
Treatment flow
How you speak to the client
How you respond when something changes
When you should adjust your technique
When it is better to stop rather than do more

What I Want You to Leave With

Not Just Notes. A Clearer Way to Think.

I do not expect somebody to become an expert after one class. That would not be realistic.

What I want is for you to understand the skill more clearly, recognise your mistakes earlier and know what you need to practise next.

That is how technique, judgement and confidence begin to build together.

Some courses include guided home study, practical clinic training and model practice. Exact requirements depend on the course selected.

Kaya Academy · Before You Apply

A Few Things You May Want to Know

Choosing a beauty course is an investment in your time, money and future skill. These answers explain how our training works, which course may suit you and what to expect before you enrol.

Choosing Your Training

I am completely new to beauty. Can I join?

Yes. Kaya Academy offers training for complete beginners as well as existing beauty therapists. You do not need previous industry experience for every course.

However, some courses require an existing skill. We recommend choosing your training according to what you already know and what you want to learn next.

Can I learn eyebrow shaping if I do not know threading?

The $399 Advanced Eyebrow Shaping & Refinement Workshop is not suitable for complete beginners.

You need to know basic threading and be reasonably comfortable controlling the thread. The workshop focuses on shaping decisions, mapping, symmetry, refinement and working with natural brow growth.

If you have never threaded before, start with the $699 Complete Threading & Brow Foundations course.

What is the difference between the $399 and $699 courses?

The $399 Advanced Eyebrow Shaping & Refinement Workshop is for students who already know threading. It includes approximately 3–5 hours of guided home study and around 5 hours of practical clinic training.

The $699 Complete Threading & Brow Foundations course starts from the beginning. It covers thread control, facial threading and foundation brow shaping. It includes one day of guided home study and approximately 1½ days of practical clinic training.

The complete course gives beginners a broader foundation. Advanced shaping, speed and consistency continue to develop through practice.

Do I complete theory before practical training?

Where home study is included, you complete the required learning before coming to the clinic. This allows practical time to focus more on hands-on technique, positioning, correction and real questions.

The amount of home study depends on the course. Your course information will explain what needs to be completed before your practical day.

How many students are in a group?

Group size depends on the course and training format. Scheduled group workshops are planned around a minimum intake of six fully paid students.

The exact group arrangements and training date will be explained before enrolment. Private one-to-one training is also available for students who prefer individual attention.

Is private one-to-one training different from group training?

Yes. In private training, Kaya's practical attention is focused on your technique and learning pace. There is more opportunity to stop, repeat movements, correct mistakes and spend time on the areas you personally find difficult.

Private training is priced separately because the trainer's time is dedicated to one student. It does not guarantee faster mastery, but it provides a more individual learning experience.

Will I need to bring a model?

Some practical courses may require a suitable model. Requirements depend on the course and the techniques being taught.

Kaya Academy will explain model suitability, preparation and timing before enrolment. If you need to arrange a model, you will be informed in advance. A model is not guaranteed to be supplied unless that has been specifically confirmed.

Practical Outcomes & Enrolment

Do the facial courses cover melanin-rich skin?

Yes. Kaya's experience with melanin-rich, sensitive and pigmentation-prone skin is an important part of the Academy's facial-training approach.

Depending on the course, students learn about skin observation, barrier condition, product selection, treatment intensity, irritation awareness and when a treatment should be adjusted or stopped.

The aim is to build more considered treatment judgement within the scope of the training. A short course does not qualify someone to diagnose skin conditions or perform every advanced treatment.

What is included in the Beginner Facial starter kit?

The $899 Beginner Facial Training course includes a practical starter kit to support your initial facial practice.

The exact products, quantities and treatments the kit can support will be explained before enrolment. This depends on the products included and how much is used during each treatment.

The kit is intended to help you begin practising without immediately purchasing a complete professional product range.

Will I receive a certificate?

Students who successfully complete the required theory and practical components receive a Kaya Academy Certificate of Completion.

A Certificate of Completion is not, by itself, a nationally recognised qualification or a guarantee of employment, licensing or insurance eligibility. If you need a particular qualification, please check the requirements before enrolling.

Will I be ready to work independently after one course?

That depends on your starting experience, the course, your practical progress and the additional practice you complete afterwards.

Kaya Academy aims to give you a stronger foundation, clearer technique and a better understanding of what to practise next. We do not promise instant mastery or that every student will be ready to work independently after one class.

Can I use the skill to earn money or start a home beauty business?

A beauty skill may become an additional paid service in a salon, home studio or future business once you have developed suitable competence and met any applicable business, insurance and local requirements.

Kaya Academy also discusses the practical side of offering a professional service, including consultation, client experience and how to think about service value.

Actual income depends on your skill, pricing, location, demand, marketing and expenses. We do not guarantee clients, employment or a particular income.

Is there any support after training?

Your course includes practical guidance during training and a clearer understanding of what you should continue practising afterwards.

Any additional mentoring, follow-up practical sessions or ongoing individual support should be confirmed as part of your course arrangements before enrolment.

How do I confirm my place? Do you accept deposits?

Full course payment is required to confirm your place. An enquiry or deposit does not secure a seat.

For scheduled group training, the date proceeds once the required number of fully paid students has been confirmed. The applicable training arrangements will be explained before payment.

What happens if a group date cannot proceed or I need to cancel?

If a group intake cannot proceed as planned, Kaya Academy will contact enrolled students about the available options, including an alternative date where appropriate.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as early as possible. Requests are considered under the applicable course terms and Australian Consumer Law.

Please review the course-specific cancellation and rescheduling terms before payment. Nothing in those terms removes your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Where is Kaya Academy training held?

Practical training is held at Kaya Beauty Clinic in Harris Park, Parramatta, Sydney.

Home-study components can be completed before attending the clinic, according to your selected course requirements. Your practical date and arrival details will be confirmed before training.
