UNDERSTANDING YOUR PIGMENTATION

Is Dermamelan® Right for Your Skin?

When pigmentation persists, the next step is not always a stronger treatment.

Dermamelan is an advanced professional depigmentation treatment that may be considered for persistent melasma, recurrent pigmentation and other suitable hyperpigmentation concerns. It combines in-clinic treatment with an ongoing home-care program.

At Kaya Beauty Clinic, we look beyond the visible dark patches. Your skin history, previous treatments, current condition and the possible triggers behind your pigmentation all help us decide whether Dermamelan is the right approach.

01 /

Persistent Melasma

Melasma can appear as recurring brown or grey-brown patches, often influenced by sun exposure, hormones and other individual factors. Dermamelan may help improve its appearance as part of an ongoing pigmentation-management plan.

02 /

Post-Inflammatory Pigmentation

Dark marks following acne, irritation or previous skin inflammation can be persistent, particularly in melanin-rich skin. We assess the cause and current skin condition before deciding whether depigmentation treatment is appropriate.

03 /

Recurrent & Uneven Pigmentation

Some clients experience pigmentation that returns after previous treatments or leaves the complexion looking patchy. Dermamelan may be considered when the pigmentation type, skin history and treatment goals support its use.

THE KAYA APPROACH

The Right Treatment Begins With the Right Assessment.

We assess your pigmentation pattern, skin barrier, sensitivity, medical and treatment history, medications and current skincare before recommending a plan. We also discuss your lifestyle, sun exposure and the time you can realistically commit to preparation, recovery and home care.

Some clients may be ready to begin after suitable preparation. Others may benefit from barrier support, a change in their skincare routine or a different treatment approach first. Cosmelan may also be appropriate for some pigmentation concerns. We recommend the option that best suits the individual skin—not simply the most intensive one.

This is particularly important when caring for Indian, South Asian and other melanin-rich skin, where irritation and inflammation can contribute to further pigmentation. Our aim is to improve excess pigmentation while respecting your natural skin tone.

Dermamelan is not suitable for everyone. Active skin conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, certain medications and recent treatments may affect suitability. New, changing or suspicious pigmented lesions should be medically assessed before cosmetic treatment.

THE KAYA APPROACH

Skin Decisions Should Come Before Treatment Decisions.

Persistent pigmentation does not always need the strongest treatment. Understanding what the skin needs first can change what we choose to do next.

A REAL KAYA CLIENT RESULT

A Visible Change.
A Journey That Continues.

Every pigmentation journey is different. This client’s Dermamelan result shows an improvement in the appearance of persistent melasma, while reminding us that ongoing care remains an important part of pigmentation management.

Looking Beyond the Visible Pigmentation.

Persistent melasma can affect more than the appearance of the skin. For some clients, it becomes a concern they have lived with for years, particularly when pigmentation returns after previous treatments.

At Kaya, we consider the skin’s history, current condition and the factors that may be contributing to pigmentation before recommending Dermamelan. Preparation, professional treatment and home care are planned around the individual client.

As the skin responds, we continue to review its condition and guide the home-care routine. The aim is not simply to achieve visible improvement, but to help the client understand how to care for their skin beyond the initial treatment.

Melasma may recur, and results depend on individual factors including pigmentation type, skin response, sun exposure and adherence to the recommended home-care plan. This result is an example of one client’s experience, not a guarantee of outcome.

DERMAMELAN® QUESTIONS

Dermamelan Treatment FAQs

Dermamelan requires preparation, professional treatment and consistent home care. These are some of the questions we commonly discuss with clients considering treatment for persistent pigmentation and melasma.

What is Dermamelan treatment?

Dermamelan is a professional depigmentation treatment used to help improve the appearance of persistent hyperpigmentation, melasma and uneven skin tone. It combines an in-clinic treatment with a continued home-care programme.

At Kaya Beauty Clinic, Dermamelan is planned around your individual pigmentation, skin condition, treatment history and home-care needs.

What is the difference between Cosmelan and Dermamelan?

Both are professional depigmentation methods, but they are not automatically interchangeable. Cosmelan may be appropriate for many common pigmentation concerns, while Dermamelan may be considered for clients with more persistent, recurrent or complex pigmentation.

We do not recommend Dermamelan simply because it sounds more intensive. Your skin analysis helps us decide which approach is more appropriate for your individual pigmentation.

Is Dermamelan suitable for Indian, South Asian and brown skin?

Dermamelan can be considered for a wide range of skin tones, including Indian, South Asian and other melanin-rich skin. However, suitability still depends on the individual skin rather than ethnicity alone.

At Kaya, we pay particular attention to inflammation, sensitivity, previous treatments and the skin barrier, as irritation itself can contribute to further pigmentation in melanin-rich skin.

How much does Dermamelan treatment cost at Kaya Beauty Clinic?

Kaya offers two Dermamelan programs. Dermamelan Essential is $2,000 and includes consultation, preparation planning, a preparatory peel, professional Dermamelan treatment, an initial home-care kit, one recovery LED session and follow-up support.

Dermamelan Complete is $2,500 and includes additional preparation skincare, a Seven-Month Home-Care Programme, three recovery LED sessions, one Calming & Barrier Recovery Facial and extended progress support.

Why is there a $2,000 and a $2,500 Dermamelan program?

Both programs include the professional Dermamelan treatment. The difference is the level of preparation, length of home-care support and the recovery and progress support included.

The Complete program does not mean a stronger or more aggressive professional treatment. It is designed for clients who prefer a longer and more closely supported treatment journey.

What does the Seven-Month Home-Care Programme include?

The Dermamelan Complete program includes prescribed Dermamelan skincare for seven months together with ongoing home-care guidance and scheduled progress reviews.

Your routine may be adjusted as your skin changes throughout the program rather than treating every stage of recovery in exactly the same way.

Do I need to prepare my skin before Dermamelan?

Preparation is an important part of our approach. Your skin is assessed before treatment, and we may recommend preparation skincare, a preparatory peel, changes to your current routine or additional time before proceeding.

The preparation plan is based on your skin rather than applying exactly the same routine to every client.

What should I expect after Dermamelan treatment?

Redness, warmth, tightness, dryness, sensitivity and peeling can occur following treatment. The intensity and duration vary from person to person.

We explain your recovery routine, home care and sun protection before treatment and continue to monitor your skin as it progresses.

Can I have laser, microneedling or another peel during Dermamelan?

We do not routinely combine additional corrective procedures while the skin is actively progressing through Dermamelan.

Further laser, needling, peels or other advanced treatments are considered separately after we review your skin, recovery and pigmentation. We do not add another procedure simply because a fixed amount of time has passed.

Can Dermamelan permanently remove melasma?

Dermamelan may help significantly improve the visible appearance of melasma, but melasma is a condition that can recur. Hormonal influences, UV exposure, heat, inflammation and other individual factors can all contribute to recurrence.

For this reason, ongoing sun protection, appropriate skincare and maintenance remain an important part of long-term pigmentation management.

How do I know whether I need Cosmelan or Dermamelan?

You do not need to decide before your consultation. We assess the type and history of your pigmentation, your previous treatments, current skin condition, sensitivity and your ability to commit to the home-care programme.

We then explain whether Cosmelan, Dermamelan or another approach is the more considered starting point for your skin.
